The Gaming Giant Recruits Popular Battle Royale Developer to Rescue Challenged Action Game Ambitious Title

The renowned publisher has secured Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to lead the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently developing the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Shift Comes After Mixed Feedback

Brinkman steps into the role of studio head at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' lackluster early showing last autumn.

Recently, the company's top executive a key figure informed team members about this decision through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had revealed the need for a clearer vision.

Ismailer noted that the team is now overhauling the project with a revised vision, aiming to satisfy community desires.

Trend of Key Recruitment

This announcement follows a similar action taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock development group.

Below is the complete content from the president's memo:

Team—

I know you all just completed your gathering - I trust you’re as excited as I am with the recent updates. Previously I sent you all a update, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most motivated and innovative designers we have had the chance to collaborate with - and we’re excited for that collaboration to persist.”

Through your commitment and versatility, especially over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.

The player input from last autumn’s Project ETHOS playtest was enlightening. It affirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the necessity for a sharper brand.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the criticism to consideration and revamped Project ETHOS with a revitalized vision - one that’s positioned to achieve its potential to our audience.

The trust in this project strengthens every day. To further the incredible development you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of the team. Following a period of talks, he officially joins us on next week.

Ben’s guidance and experience in the PVP shooter genre is considerable, having dedicated the last 15 years producing and leading some of the most well-known franchises in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, Apex Legends.

I invite you all in receiving him soon. We are all looking forward to persist witnessing the development of Project ETHOS in the time to ahead.

The game lacks an announced debut schedule or consoles, but enthusiasts can look forward to more updates as development advances.
